CREATING HEALING ENVIRONMENTS WITH GEMS & STONE MEDICINES
February 12 - 14, 2010
This course is approved by the California Acupuncture Board for 15 Hours of Continuing Education in Category I
In this weekend of an ongoing series reintroducing the use of gems and stones in the practice of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Jeffrey Yuen will focus upon the creation of healthy and healing environments with gems and stone medicine. He will focus on orienting gems and stone medicine to the eight palaces, delineating which gems and stones work best with each of the palaces. The palaces in Feng Shui represent the lessons we face in life -- health, wealth, prosperity, relationships, creativity, vocation, adventure/travel, and knowledge, which combine together to bring us home.
Historically, gems and stones occupied a predominant place in the most important Chinese herbal materia medicas and in acupuncture as stone needles. Yet gems and stones have largely been left out of contemporary practice of Chinese medicine. The classics contend that their density and solidity represent permanence in healing and the stabilization of energetic intentions and therapies. Stones also can serve as chelating agent to draw out toxins from the body-mind-spirit continuum.
THE TUCSON GEM SHOWS
The seminar is scheduled around the Tucson Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Showcase, which consists of dozens of shows taking place at the same time. For two weeks every winter, the world meets in Tucson as it becomes a bustling, international marketplace of buyers and sellers. The "Gem Show" is much more than a single event at one location. Dozens of concurrent shows are held in giant white tents, at hotels and resorts, and at exhibit halls around town. The shows attract thousands of treasure hunters from every corner of the globe and most of the shows are open to the public.
