USING GEMS AND STONES IN CHINESE MEDICINE
WITH PRACTICUM
Beginning a new eight-weekend, West Coast series over two years, Dr. Jeffrey Yuen will introduce gems and stones as major components of Chinese medicine. Historically, the most important materia medicas (ben caos) described the properties of stones, which were considered living, evolving entities. More importantly, their density and solidity represent greater permanence in healing and the stabilization of energetic intentions and therapies. They can serve as chelating agent to draw out toxins from the body-mind-spirit continuum. In addition, the application of stones on acupoints or as jewelry can promote certain healing vibra tions and draw postive influences or repel negative factors. This series, which meets three times a year in San Francisco and once a year in Tucson at the International Gem Shows, will examine the healing properties, structure, color, and application of stones and gems. Topics covered will include making elixirs, cleansing & recharging stones, applying stones on acupoints, using heated or moxa stones, placing stones in the home and office, and using new and “ancient” stones & crystals, designs, and light interaction.
On Monday, Dr. Yuen will demonstrate the clinical uses of gems and stones in treating patients presenting with various problems. The practicum will be limited to 30 participants.
